Domik.ua — it's a product for real estate search in Ukraine.
I was designing new product for domik.ua. Now the product released in close alpha test, final open release might be at February 2019.
User needs and hypothesis
may not coincide with administrative geographical unitsWhen I was watching screen recording of user sessions in hotjar (it is analytics tool), I saw that some user segments don't select the district of the city completely. They select in every district a micro-district, that they want to live and to it at one page views for all districts in dropdown.
At personal meeting with users, we found new behavior pattern, when user wants to find apartment in he wants to live in a specific areas and the areas don't match with administrative borders of districts and micro-districts of the city. This place can be such us a small part of the district and it's can be a group of parts from two or three districts and include suburb and some streets. After the interviews and this insight in our team comes the term of user areal.

Hypothesis:
If user will able to show on map the areal where he want to live, we will able to make for him more quolity search result. Than we will give him more benefit and we will easier search flow, than faster convert the user to buy a home.
How to calculate:
If show for user more apartments, were he wants to live and cut off where not needed. In result the count of clicks on apartment cards will growth.
To test it we will compare:
- count of click event on cards from filtered pages before release and after;
- CTR (Click-through rate – ratio of clicks to);
- average time of user sessions;
- bounce rate from pages 3, 4, 5.
If user will able to show on map the areal where he want to live, we will able to make for him more quolity search result. Than we will give him more benefit and we will easier search flow, than faster convert the user to buy a home.

Solution
We decided to let users draw on the map where they want to live. In filter "Места" has added new item "Draw on the map" and we made three tools type a circle, a contour from closed straight lines and a contour from a closed curve.
We was a little scare that on user test older people and users who have not worked with graphs tools would be hard to understand how draw areal and how delete it. But user tests showed that it is easy, not all people guessed that they can pull path of shape to edit it. But It's okay, they just deleted shape and drew new.
